Priyansh Arya's Historic IPL Performance
New Delhi [India], April 9: Priyansh Arya, a batter for Punjab Kings, expressed his excitement following his first century in the Indian Premier League 2025, achieved against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. He noted that such achievements significantly enhance his confidence.
“These moments boost my confidence immensely. It’s an incredible feeling to be recognized among the legends of the game. I remember our first practice match; it was an extraordinary experience. Scoring runs is one thing, but hitting a century is truly special,” Arya shared in a video released by IPL.
He also reflected on the competitive nature of the league. “I believed that if the ball was in my zone, I would take the shot and trust my instincts. I’m not just looking for singles. Even if wickets fall, I have faith in my ability to clear the boundary. The atmosphere is intense with the crowd, and facing bowlers who are seasoned international players adds to the challenge,” he explained.
“Performing against such players is rewarding. I learn a lot from them. They remain supportive regardless of my performance, encouraging me to take risks. Their positivity is a great source of confidence for me,” he added.
Arya's remarkable innings of 103 runs off just 42 balls, featuring seven fours and nine sixes, propelled Punjab Kings to a total of 219 runs, leading to an 18-run victory over the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings.
Despite losing wickets at the other end, Arya's aggressive batting style resulted in the fourth-fastest century in IPL history, matching the record set by Australian cricketer Travis Head. He reached his century in just 39 balls, marking the eighth IPL century by an uncapped player, following notable names like Shaun Marsh and Manish Pandey.
